Are you confident and ready?

The holiday weekend has finally arrived and you and your wife are off to the islands (Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket or Block Island) for a get-a-way weekend. A call to flight services for a weather briefing yields some unpleasant news. Ceiling at home are 800 broken, 1800 scattered and 2500 overcast, with tops at 4300. Weather over the eastern shore and islands is forecasted to be similar at your destination with an overcast layer at around 1000 until early afternoon. Winds are relatively calm and there is no convective activity expected.

Welcome to New England weather. How confident are you? Are you ready to file IFR, launch, get on top and fly an ILS or VOR approach at your destination?
